Most of the sauces/ salsas were too spicy for us, they do not have mild or light spice levels. The “aguas de sabor” were amazing, so fresh and tasty. Overall, it is a great place to taste exotic meat (Armadillo, Snake, etc.) as well as prehispanic food, vegan and vegetarian options.
I sat here for dinner. The meal offered was 2 pieces of an assortment of various prepared balls little patties, accompanied by mol, rice, tortillas, agua di Chia sweetened with stevia, and beans inexpensively advertised by American comparison, but more than in nearby market stands. We asked ourselves about the cost of adding another Patty or buying things separated, as there is a ton of different options, the Patties are small, and we were super hungry; they did not seem safe the prices. The food was good and they said most of it was vegan friendly. The mole was great, served on the patties it was difficult to separate the flavors, so I would suggest asking him on the side. I was still hungry for everything, but as I mentioned, I was left when I arrived. The market seemed to close as we ate, and the excess patties were packaged in plastic. I am insecure when they are sold the next day or brought home to feed the family. I didn't understand the change that was given to me on the basis of prices, but the food was good.
What moved us here was that it was pre-Columbian cuisine and that it looked so good. We ate here twice for lunch. I really liked the stew of deer meat; big flavors and very delicate. Jabali or wild boar was also excellent. There are many small roasted veggie things to try, everything we had delicious. Markets are always fun to eat tasty and cheap, and this is some of the best food I have had every one in a market in Mexico.
Try the 7 seed ball or the spinach and Flor de Calabaza one! And the soup was amazing! Guy is super friendly and explains the amazing ingredients. Def will return.
If you go to the market in Tepozlan you have to go check out this unique food experience famous stand. We sat down for a great Aztec meal here. We sampled most of it and it was all good. Be aware that, as is typically the case in Mexico, the sauces can be spicey!
