The Wiremill - Tandridge

Asked to sit down at a table with dirty glasses and used plates. Told to order our own drinks at the bar. The food was terrible with old pre cooked potatoes and overcooked vegetables the greens were grey. The roast beef was tough and not pink as described in the menu. I think the food was just reheated badly as it was cold or just leftovers from lunch.

Lovely venue .. food was good ...staff very friendly .. however there was a dreadfull stench outside and inside. It was the smell of a cesspit overflowing definitely not the lake . This needs urgent attention as I am sure it is a health Hazzard. Such a shame ... would not go again !!!!!

The nice view was the only enjoyable thing about my visit. As a restaurant it is lacking. The food was not good. I wish I had checked reviews before coming, you will see several similar complaints. Expensive prices for mid food. I ordered the chicken club sandwich for £13. It's not hard to do a good sandwich, especially one you are paying £13 for. Bread was cheap white slices (other places use nice ciabatta etc), plain chicken (tasteless), overcooked bacon. Friends complained about the veg that accompanied their food being undercooked. Deserts were okay but more expensive than other places for the same standard. Service could be made better by clearing up quicker wasps were attracted to the cider bottles etc...

Not sure what has happened to this beautifully located pub/restaurant. The service was nonexistent, we had to go find some staff (all sitting out the back) to clear plates and order drinks and desserts. I’ve been here a few times before and the experience had been pretty good. Today was awful, the food was passable but front of house was a disaster.

AVOID! Never been to a restaurant where so many staff members are doing absolutely nothing. No prices on the menu which isn't a deal breaker but still annoying. Waited 20 minutes before being asked if we wanted drinks. Food came quickly once ordered but was very disappointing, none of the table enjoyed the sunday roast which was chewy meat and a few vegetables. Another age went past before anyone collected the empty plates and offered dessert. Desserts were okay, easily the highlight of the meal, albeit the bar was low at this point. Asked for the bill, about 20 minutes past and we notice the waiter is stood chatting behind the bar. Only after awkward eye contact did he realise we were still waiting. Came over, dropped the bill on the table and left again for another 15 minutes. He had the cheek to add a 10% service charge onto the bill which I swiftly told him to remove without hesitation. Eventually came back with the card machine and a pathetic apology was offered whilst paying. Definitely wont be returning.
