While I had high hopes for a fun and educational day, the overall state of the zoo was far from what I had imagined. The enclosures, while spacious in some areas, seemed outdated and in need of serious maintenance. Many animals appeared lethargic, and I couldn't shake the feeling that some were not receiving the care or stimulation they needed. A few exhibits were empty or under construction, which wasn’t communicated ahead of time, leading to some letdowns, especially for kids. I understand that zoos face challenges in caring for animals, especially in climates like Syracuse's, but I left with a sense of sadness rather than wonder. The potential for a great experience is there, but right now, it feels as though the zoo has seen better days.I truly hope the Rosamond Gifford Zoo can improve both its facilities and animal care, as it has the foundation to be a fantastic resource for the community and a safe haven for the animals. But until then, I can't recommend it to others.
Love this place! Be sure to ask about veteran discounts.
Loved it and my daughter loved it. Great way to fill the day and keep kid busy. The indoor exhibits and the outdoor ones were beautiful. Large range of animal. The mini vet office was adorable also and my daughter loved it. Staff is also very welcoming and nice! Loved the hot dog stand also. Also love their support for the military by offering free entry for service members!
We love visiting the zoo. While it is small, there is a lot to see and it's a cheap outing
Really enjoyed our visit and Penquin encounter. Loved the temporary Dragons throughout the park as well
