We've tried various German restaurants in our area, and my wife is German while I share a fondness for German cuisine as well. Having experienced a range of German eateries, we believe Joe's serves the best German food we've had in the United States; our local restaurants simply cannot compare. When we discovered Joe's last year, we had the opportunity to chat with Joe and his wife. We told Joe that we originally came to Texas for a taste of authentic Texas barbecue, yet we unexpectedly found the best German food ever—how ironic that we came for brisket but left with such a wonderful German dining experience! This year, during our return trip to Texas, we made a beeline for Joe's as soon as we arrived in town. We checked into our hotel and immediately looked up Joe’s again, eager to enjoy the excellent food and talk to Joe once more. I should also mention that if you speak German, you'll be warmly welcomed; our server greeted us in German, which added to the authentic experience. If you're looking to savor German cuisine, I highly recommend Joe’s!
I drove 116 miles just to enjoy some German cuisine. The outdoor area would have been a lovely spot to savor the meal if it hadn't been a chilly 50 degrees that day. I really liked the atmosphere inside—the lighting created a cozy and welcoming vibe. The food was delicious. While it wasn't the cheapest, I left feeling very satisfied, and my son couldn't finish his portion. We ordered two different platter selections, which allowed us to sample a variety of dishes from the menu. I didn’t order any beer, so I can’t comment on that selection. Both the cheesecake and apfelstrudel were delightful, making for a perfect ending to our meal. Honestly, if Joe’s German Restaurant doesn’t stay in this location, Bossier/Shreveport and Barksdale AFB would be lucky to have a restaurant like this in their area.
My friend is visiting from Germany, and I'm excited to bring her here. She's a big fan of German cuisine and knows a lot about it. We sat on the terrace, which was lovely. Our waiter was very friendly. Everything we had, from the cauliflower soup to the beer served in small glasses, was excellent!
Good German eating with a few surprises like big tzatziki sauce! the house has made bread. German food was good German food. it's not my favorite cute so I won't rave over it, but if you like German eating, it was really good. the cheesecake was nice and light.
