Updating my review: this place used to be great. Great location, food, and view. However, they have cut their menu into an eighth or smaller of its former self. They no longer have the Velada dish (their flaming pineapple). We would bring friends and family here specifically to get that. Being from Texas, the rest of their food is lackluster to me. We will likely not be back.
Been going there for years, but recently the menu has been reduced to a shell of its former self. The final straw was when we went there tonight and discovered that their signature Velada dish (the flaming pineapple thing that so many people have posted pictures/videos of on here) has been removed from the menu. Extremely disappointing to see all of the menu options that used to set this place apart get eliminated.
This wonderful restaurant in Market Square is a perfect place to go for happy hour and Tex-Mex eats. I really liked the sizzling steak fajitas and the freshly cooked vegetables on the side. Margaritas are awesome too. 9/10 joint.
This place has very good Mexican food. We're from the Southwest where good Mexican food is easy to find. Finding good Mexican food here has been a challenge. I had the rellenos with chicken, my husband had alambres pollo and both of us were very impressed. The chicken had been marinated cooked on cast iron before being put inside my relleno which was egg washed and fried! It had amazing layers of flavor. The pico was fresh and crispy. My husband fell in love with the cilantro margarita. We has sopapillas for dessert which were thick, deep fried sopapilla chips with whipped cream, raspberry chocolate drizzle a scoop of ice cream. The food had authentic Mexican flavor the ambiance is warm and welcoming the use of multiple materials and textures shows the owners pride in his restaurant. We had a table that overlooked Market Square so we people watched enjoyed Pittsburgh's historic architecture. 10/10
