Had the country skills, was very good. Had Rye Toast, which is always harder to find. A cheap place to eat.
A breif aside before the main reveiw: American Classics takes credit cards. I notice that because several restaurants in Spencer are only cash/check. The American classic is exactly what its name implies, a traditional American diner. The service is fast and friendly, while the food is excellent in American style. I came to breakfast and maybe had the best chicken roasted steak I've ever eaten. The bread was delicious, the sausages rich and tasteful. If you are looking for a big greasy spoon with many small town charm, American Classics is for you.
The food was wonderful! You have to try the fries! The service was really good.
