ValBen's has the best meat, fish and prepared foods The rice balls and potato croquet are as good as my grandmother used to make and the absolute best this area has to offer. Val is always gracious and friendly. A great local business!

I can't say enough about this market. It is the absolute BEST place to buy quality meats AND seafood. Not only are they a butcher shop, but they also prepare foods to take home. We had the most delicious ravioli and chicken soup and will certainly buy more items for those crazy nights when I don't have time to cook. Valben's take time to answer all your questions and offer suggestions. This is what local businesses should model themselves after.

If I could give it -0.00 stars I would...as a matter of fact I WISH I could!!!Complete RIP OFF!!!! and I never leave reviews..this is my first!I went in today to purchase beef liver for my dogs, bought 1.5 pounds of frozen beef liver all she had) and the price with tax was an UNBELIEVABLE $15.46!!!! I repeat....$15.46 for one and a half pounds!!!Now, yes, it was my fault for buying it, I know but I guess I was just in shock and just thought OK...I guess it's already rung up and allowed myself to feel that if I didn't continue the purchase I would somehow upset the situation and cause the merchant drama since she pulled it out and rang it up already.when I arrived home and told my husband he who is white) suggested it was a racial thing. I'd hate to think so but in the past 6 months of buying beef liver at the farmers market and other local butcher who ran out) I've NEVER paid more than $1.99 a pound of the same beef liver, so I can't imagine anything else.Anyway racist or otherwise, I will not ever be returning to Valben Heritage Market ever and would caution you before you do...especially for beef liver, but then again, you may not have brown skin that would make her charge you filet mignon prices for dog food.

My brother and I went in right before they close and the woman working behind the counter still made us 3 incredibly large Italian combos. She even included some macaroni salad for free. The hospitality and food here is among the best in Westchester. I will 100% be coming back, the food is worth every penny.
