Silver Bay Municipal Liquor Store

Classic Minnesota bar. Draft beer, some other beers in cans/ bottles, and a basic selection of rail liquor. Lots of wood paneling, pictures of fish, pull tabs behind the bar BUT, this specific classic Minnesota bar has a focus on local beer, so you can actually get a damn good IPA on tap, and you won't find Bud or Coors on draft. Given that our state makes fine drinking liquids, the North shore needs more places like this. Also, they are pretty welcoming to kiddos, which is important when the kids are hungry and literally the only option after 7pm is to seek out bar pizza. It's Giovanni, not Heggie, still solid.

Great employees. Very friendly. Local patrons were very nice and we enjoyed our time there. Best frozen pizzas, Giovanni's. We will always stop in when in the area. A hidden gem on the North Shore.

I stopped in here to buy a bottle of wine while vacationing on the North Shore. I knew this was a combined saloon and liquor store from the web site. When you enter, the liquor store portion is immediately on your right, and fairly small. The wine selection is a bookcase-sized area in a corner, but they had a good selection, even some foreign labels. The service was quick and unobtrusive; they could see me from the bar area, but didn't hover over me, offering help. Once I stood at the register, they came right over and were friendly. I'd definitely consider going back here if I needed to get some alcoholic beverage while in the area, next time.

We stopped in for a cocktail and thought this would be a nice local's hangout. It was a wonderful place to hang with the locals!!! Ellie is a fabulous bartender that makes you feel incredibly welcomed! She has such a social personality and makes you feel right at home! We were camping nearby on a cold evening and sight unseen, offered to borrow us blankets. Such a great, fun local hangout! We will definitely be back!!!

Amazing service! The guy who helped my husband was so sweet to my son! It means a lot to parents when people pay attention to their kids. Asked if he could have some M&Ms and came back with a bag and said happy Halloween . My son came out of the store with the biggest smile on his face and so excited to show me what the nice guy gave him. We will definitely be back when we are in them area!
