The food was cold and the waiter did not keep tea/water glass full. The waiter said he would be back with bread but it was never brought to table. There was a 20 per cent tip added and the service didn't warrant that amount. Service and food was not what I expected.
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at George’s and the atmosphere was very relaxing, the food was absolutely delicious and the time between courses was very nice. We had the Oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer along with a glass of wine, the Luccio Moscato, California, especially if you like it on the sweeter side as opposed to dry which complimented our steaks perfectly. The service was impeccable and the coffee and carrot cake for dessert made for a nice finish to the evening. If you’re in the area and have a desire for great food in a comfortable atmosphere, then George’s Steak Pit is a perfect place to dine. We opted to stay overnight at the Hampton Downtown in Florence where we were treated very well and it was quiet and peaceful where Khaliya made you feel welcome and the breakfast hostess, Janet, welcomed us to the breakfast room.
Sadly disappointing. The food was average instead of special. The French onion soup was not good at all. I am happy to pay top price for top food. But the staff was great!
I have eaten at George's many times over the years and my experiences over the holidays have prompted me to do a review. George's is one of the few fine dining restaurants in the Shoals and I always consider it a treat to dine at George's. The service, atmosphere and food are always up to a high standard! For appetizers, I would highly recommend the sauteed crab claws! They are buttery and delicious! I also love the seared Ahi Tuna and Greek Meatballs. I absolutely love their French onion soup and the Greek Salad (no anchovies for me. The George's Special Ribeye's is one of my favorites and I also also love the Double Delight- 5 oz. filet and 5 oz. of salmon. They cook over a wood burning grill and it is creates the best flavor! I also love the grilled shrimp and grilled pork chops. Definitely get the Creme Brulé for desert!!
