Zagreb - Selfkant

We are in Germany who visit our son and always look for great food. see the display of this restaurant on the side of a van at a tankstelle. on the way back to our apartment in sittard we have passed it into wher and...a we try. first he impressed his size and how beautiful it was when we entered. not that we were busy sitting immediately and a menu not in English, but that's why we have apps right? no big thing. the man who sat us knew little English, but very soon came a gentleman who was willing to try. he explained that he could be of croatia and understood English well, but had a hard time to speak. we all have torn off quickly. he took our recommendation for the app and was so happy. we have both ordered bark, but if different types. before her arrival the gentleman brought a tiny bottle of the Croatian wein. with a shot it was down. very smooth and very tasty. the salatbarian with the order. small but well done. she ordered the Croatian wee and I had a local beer. the man came by a few more paintings and we took care of different things. then came the main course. wow! steaks cooked to perfection and huge. our friend came to or close with two larger small bottles of “wine”. our learned enough croatian to ask his name. his name is robert. we all laughed together with others in the restaurant, as robert tried to tell us what the wee was made. birne and plant. costume. with hesitation gave us robert two great ice desserts on the house. there are times when there is good food. time when there is good atmosphere. time when the service is good. rarely hit all three their mark. that was the night. the U-turn was chic. to put the cherry on the head, we have devastated our dreams to travel to Croatia. robert gave us a big book and marked the best place to visit us. wow. yes that was a very long review, but rarely we have time, location, event that is over 5 stars. that was the place that night, the people that make it that way. This is the best restaurant in selfkant without doubt. everything is fresh, they can taste it. the chef is the owner and most employees are family. very friendly atmosphere and they have a room at the top that they can use for large meeting in the private sphere.

We went on Friday night, which seems to be lucky, as they had a three cure menu on Friday at the price of the main course. Maybe it's on other days. the service was very friendly. I had suppe as an appetizer: a large part of three different meats for the main course with rice and pommes. they can also help them to the salatable, al included in the price. my wife had truthahn with pfirsich in a delicious sauce. for dessert there was ice with fruit sauce and whipped cream. the bill was €41 (including a carafe red wine) for both of us. the interieur is something typical of the genre, a bit spersome, but definitiw a comeback place!
