Smokehouse Grille - Scottsville

We loved this place! We adventured in Dillwyn for the weekend and ended our trip in Scottsville at The Smokehouse Grilled--and I'm so glad we did! Our server, Catherine, was delightful despite my 4 year old daughter's surly just-woke-up-from-a-nap attitude. She quickly turned us all around and put us in a great mood! The service was excellent and so was the food. We love farm-to-table restaurants and TSG didn't disappoint. We got the tuna special, a brisket sandwich, the rib app, and some french toast. We tried the peach cobbler and chocolate and vanilla cheesecakes. It was ALL excellent--especially that cole slaw! I'm super glad we stopped in. There were a couple of times that we needed something and Catherine was clearly hard at work at another table. That's no big deal! But there was a tall, thin young gentleman who was on his phone in the front basically the whole time who probably could have helped us and some other tables. Just an observation..

We have come back every year when we are on vacation nearby. Every single item we have eaten has been amazing! Katie is a fabulous hostess and made sure we had the best experience. I highly recommend the bread pudding with whiskey sauce. Delicious every time!

A little over a year ago, my husband and I did a little backcountry meandering and found ourselves driving through Scottsville. We were vacationing nearby and decided to go back with friends a few days later to do some sightseeing. After walking through downtown we decided to grab dinner at The Smokehouse Grille. Caty greeted us and described the menu and where the food comes from. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that we had picked a farm to table restaurant! It was one of the best experiences we've had and each time we're in the area we try to stop in. Caty has remembered us each time we've returned. She is wonderful and makes each visit a pleasure! Everything we have had has been very tasty. Great customer service! PS Leave the bread pudding alone, it's all ours!! ;

Service was not good, slow, never offered refills of water or tea. Baked beans weren't cooked all the way, and not really baked beans. On the way out the hostess and bust boy were on their phones and didn't even look up when we walked by. This was 3pm on a Saturday and almost nobody else there. Go to the tavern on the james instead.

My husband and I were passing through on our way back to D.C. and we stopped here for a bite to eat. And, OMG the food and service were phenomenal!! Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. Seriously!! Everything was freshly organic and well prepped. I mean I've never tasted a salad like the one I had here! The lettuce was slightly grilled for that awesome smoke taste. GENIUS!!!! In addition to the delicious food and atmosphere, Ms. Katie took very good care of us with kindness and professionalism. Her customer service with a hug and smile was more than enough to have me return and yes we will return. So, if you're in Scottsville stop by The Smokehouse Grille and ask for Ms. Katie. I guarantee she will take care of you.
