Not the best vegan options. I'm glad they finally added a second vegan broth as the tomato base was bland and boring. The spicy Mala is much better. I wish they might have another noodle that was vegan beside the kale ramen. Your wooden ear is great!
They only had a vegan broth, their regular rams were not vegan, so we had to pay extra to get kale noodles. It was very bland. Our non vegan friends do not enjoy their food either. They showed a lot of anime on the TVs that were cool, but with the loud music it was hard to relax.
The spicy vegan broth initially had very little taste, but a terrible aftertaste. The tofu was also unseasonal, which would be good if the broth tasted good. The vegan cale noodles tasted badly and dissolved in the broth after a while. The interior is sweetly decorated, but the ramen was the worst I ever had.
While I would have given them 5 stars, I was disappointed by the "chicken karaage" and "yakitori." The karaage should have been dark chicken thigh meat marinated in ginger, garlic, sake, and soy, then coated in corn or potato starch and fried to a crispy, yet light exterior with a tender and flavorful interior. Unfortunately, this version was dry, overcooked, crunchy, and lacking in flavor. When I asked for Japanese mayo, I was met with a dismissive response from another server, not Hawk. The yakitori should have been dark chicken meat grilled over an open flame and brushed with sauce as it cooked, but instead, we received dry, white meat chicken grilled on a griddle and drizzled with sauce after plating. In conclusion, I highly recommend trying the ramen at this restaurant and want to give a special shout-out to Hawk for his excellent service.
