The Heights - Saskatoon

Went here the other night for the first time after not going for a while. The place has changed owners since I last went so there were a lot of changes some pleasant and some disappointing! They still have a good selection of drinks and good food specials. Definitely a lot more food than the old menu and it came really quickly. However, I was really sad that they don't have board games anymore. I used to love coming in, getting a few drinks, and playing board games!

Very very good food and great selection of beer. Tried the house cucumber dills; homemade and tasted great. These tasted awesome with beer a must order. <br/ <br/ We also got the empanadas, chimichurri sauce was great and had a good amount of heat. The actual empanadas tasted great. Also ordered the going for broke pizza. Again very good. I'm not a huge fan of lamb but this was a good pizza. <br/ <br/ The beers were on tap cold and fresh. Atmosphere was good. Music was on but at a volume you could carry on a conversation.<br/ <br/ The only down side was it is costly. Over $60 with food, 3 beers and tip... <br/ <br/ Service was great awesome atmosphere will head back on pay day.

The Woods is my go to spot, hands down.  The atmosphere is so relaxing and makes you feel right at home (couches are my spot).  Service is very quick and friendly.  They have awesome trivia and open mic nights.  The menu continues to develop with awesome comfort food and more.  It is the freshest and tastiest craft beer spot in the city but they can also make a mean cocktail.

I 'm a big fan of the pizzas but I haven 't tried much of the rest of the menu. I love the beer selection. I have always found the service to be top notch friendly servers and reasonably quick service. The ambiance is decent to good. They host lots of unique events. We went to the Woods on the night of the federal election to watch the results roll in. Give 'em a try.

I like this place for local beer which has definitely improved over time.  It isn't great if you want quiet conversation because it gets quite loud.  The service is excellent the servers are friendly, helpful, and check in frequently.  The food is good portions which compensates for the high prices.  The tasting board is a great way to start an evening off.
