I 'm very picky when it comes to Thai food. Only two places have blown it out the park for me. This is not one of those places. The food was okay. I had the spring rolls, shrimp pad Thai and spicy salmon rolls (sushi). My drink was great though Long Island Beach , it was like and mai tai and Long Island mixed together. The restaurant has a very nice vibe to it though.
We had a nice lunch in a clean and bright space. The price seemed fair for three lunches, one hard drink, one tea drink, and one dessert. Our waitress was friendly and professional which is important to a successful outing with friends. Regarding the food, the standouts for me were the crab Rangoon which actually had a nice mild crab flavor unlike the ones I get at PF Chang's, and a delicious slice of cheesecake with chocolate drizzle. Gluten free options are available but we're not convinced there was no cross contamination.
It 's all about the food. It was awful. Not Like the cooks were just off their game that night but in every way possible awful! Eating in saratoga , I don 't have high expectations, but this was rough lol. Food was very sub par.
It has been my experience in the past, dining at restaurants which offer a variety of cuisines from several Southeast Asian countries, that they might not get all the dishes quite right, especially beef. Each country typically prepares the beef in a unique way or ways, and will the restaurant do that for each beef dish on the menu? Armed with that admitted bias beforehand, for my first visit here (and I'll come back), I opted for the chicken pho for lunch instead. It was not the best I've ever had, but enjoyable nonetheless. My hot green tea was delivered in a mug, as opposed to a pot of steeped tea leaves, for which you usually have enough for refills. I didn't drink all of it, so I don't know if refills are free. The price I paid for the pho was comparable to what I've paid at other Vietnamese restaurants, but I don't think I got nearly as much pho or fixings as those other restaurants typically served. The basil consisted of one small sprig with 2 medium leaves and a couple of very small ones. There's a shiny consistency to fresh bean sprouts, and these were a little dull, as in maybe a day old. It did include a large wedge of lime and several slices of fresh jalapeno pepper. I was expecting the broth to have a little bit more flavor but was otherwise nice. Because it was early in the day, I'd be willing to bet the broth has more flavor as the day progresses. Service was excellent. I do look forward to coming back and trying a variety of items (including those beef ones, because I'll be glad to be proved wrong).
