The super carnitas burrito was absolutely delicious! I am quite selective when it comes to meat, but this burrito exceeded my expectations. The meat appeared to be hand-pulled and all the excess fat was removed. I opted to have the red sauce on the side to prevent the burrito from becoming too soggy. The sauce was served warm and I drizzled just a little bit on each bite, enhancing the flavors even more.
The restaurant offers vegan burritos and bowls with a variety of meatless options, all of which were well-prepared. However, there was a lack of vegan cheese or sour cream, which was disappointing for some. The Mexican rice is not vegetarian (cooked with chicken broth), so opting for white rice is recommended. The service was friendly, and outdoor seating was available (we brought our dog). Prices were a bit high ($16 for a burrito, similar to the cost of meat options), but the location was beautiful.
They use chicken stock in their Spanish rice and list it as a vegetarian item. Be warned! When I asked the waitress about the vegetarian options, she gave me an attitude and provided terrible service. Upon seeing this on the menu, I was excited about the plant-based options but had to be cautious before leaving. It was clear that they had misled me by claiming the chicken stock was vegetarian. The restaurant was slow, with only four people, including my boyfriend and me, so our questions about vegetarian options were not addressed promptly. The waitress eventually brought us 2 free salsas and chips without explaining anything. One of the salsas had a smoky chipotle flavor that my boyfriend mistook for a meat-based substance, only to find out it was beans. If this had been clarified beforehand, we would have avoided it. The orange and runny consistency made it difficult to stay on a chip. My boyfriend, who is Mexican, even thought it was salsa. The service was rude and inconsiderate, despite my repeated inquiries about vegetarian items on the menu. I have been vegan for 10 years and have ordered vegan food many times before. If the waitress had mentioned that one of the complimentary items contained meat, I would have avoided it without any issues. When my boyfriend paid for the drinks and explained why we were leaving abruptly, the waitress blamed me for not informing her that I was vegan. Despite my discussions about vegan options, the waitress accused me of not mentioning it in a slow restaurant. This was not my fault. I had ordered vegan and specifically asked about vegan options, only to be misled. I was left feeling upset and disappointed by the entire experience.
Absolutely fantastic, as usual. The shredded chicken is a standout for us. The combo of five Street Tacos is a steal, and the enchiladas are exceptional. This has quickly become one of our preferred dining spots.
