Captains Grill @ St. George Motor Boat Club

I visited this restaurant with friends for the first time since the name has changed from Captain's Grill. We all had the Beer battered Fish and Chips. The serving was huge; none of us could finish it. We were all happy with it except we...could have done with a smaller serve. The restaurant seemed terribly short staffed. Though we did comment that the staff still managed to be pleasant and accommodating. This meant we had to wait for a while for service.

Be publicly embarrassed and shamed when you go as a MEMBER to St George Motor Boat Club. Yesterday my wife and I as members of the club went to the club for lunch. Well in the foyer we presented our PAPER vaccine certificates to be...told quite harshly that “We classify paper certificates as fakes so we cannot accept these certificates and you are denied entry to our club” WOW how to be shamed publicly in front of others in the foyer for presenting a valid legal vaccine certificate? We are both double vaccinated, the paper certificates are real but we have not mastered the electronic certificates on our phones yet. EVERYWHERE we have presented our paper certificates we have been given entry without any drama BUT NOT AT THE MOTOR BOAT CLUB. To stop shaming people in the foyer how about this suggestion? Put a large sign on the front doors saying “IF YOU HAVE A PAPER VACCINE CERTIFICATE IMMEDIATELY TURN AROUND AND F... OFF” A much nicer approach than we received.

Took our friends for lunch and my wife ordered octopus salad and we found a BLACK WORM in it so we complained and they just gave us coffee vouchers we use to take lots of friends there but not anymore.

The noise in the club is deafening as you cannot hear yourself talking. The food is OVERPRICED AND BELOW AVERAGE. McDONALDS FOOD IS BETTER. wiill never go back

I went here with an old friend from school on our once a year catch up. We had a perfect day for it sunny with a light breeze. My friend had booked a window table and the view was fantastic, the restaurant was not busy...when we arrived but shortly after was full on a Wednesday in the middle of the week. The menu was extensive and the prices were reasonable and there is member and visitor prices but there is not much difference. I ordered chicken parmagamia which was my friend had a scotch fillet steak which was The food was large servings and delicious. Neither of us could eat dessert. I would recommend this restaurant.
