Trattoria Mariella - SAN VITO LO CAPO

Very average food (meet overcooked and tasteless). Service horrible. I don’t write negative review often but this one deserved it!

Fast and friendly service. Food was good and our family with kids (age 9 and 14) were all satisfied. Ate traditional cous cous and it was well worth it.

Dining in SVLC can be a little hit and miss during the tourist season. Mariella is the absolute exception. It is consistent with both fantastic food and a wonderful dining experience. My expectations were exceeded at Mariella. Not just by the standards of the city but in terms of dining experiences world wide. The ambience of the restaurant was exceptional. Soft lighting, impeccable tables, close to the beach and most importantly fantastic staff. Alessio escorted us in on our first night (that's right we went back the next night! and we were served in a relaxed manner that was helpful but not invasive. There was no hurry and the emphasis was on enjoying the meal. And that is exactly what took place. I had one of the most wonderful meals of my life here Cous cous di Pesce con fritture de Camalari. Perfectly cooked cous cous and seafood. It was truly delicious. The subtle flavours that were incorporate seamlessly, left me feeling so satisfied. When the bill came I expected to pay for this experience. However, the price was so low it was shocking. I was expecting double, considering the quality and quantity of my meal. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. In a sea of many restaurants trying to make a buck, this is the hidden jewel among them.
