The staff are quick and attentive, but some of them only speak Mandarin, so don’t be surprised or upset if they can’t understand you. They will find another waiter who speaks English to get back to you. They have a fruit, snack and sauce bar where you can help yourself if you pay $3.5 per person. The food is very delicious, especially the broth base. We ordered different broths each time. My favorite is mushroom broth, my husband loves the chicken broth while my sister adores the spicy one.As I said, this is Chongqing hot pot, so the level of spiciness is crazy. We ordered their medium spicy once, and can’t finish the meal because we drank 3 glasses of water. If you can’t handle spicy food, don’t try it.Vegetarian options: You can choose only veggies if you want, even veggie soup baseKid-friendliness: A set of bamboo utensils for kids. Standard high chairs
The chicken broth was the best! Food was fresh, service was good, and a lot of selections at the sauce section. There were some cold dishes for you to enjoy before the hot pot was ready. Great experience and will be back for sure.Food: 5/5
Liuyishou: A Must-Try Spot in San Mateo!Rating: Review:If you're looking for an extraordinary hot pot experience in San Mateo, look no further than Liuyishou! This place has taken my love for hot pot to a whole new level with their incredible flavors, exceptional service, and the introduction of their new item, the Luosifen hot pot. Trust me when I say, you won't find a more satisfying and authentic hot pot experience anywhere else.Let's start with the star of the show—the Luosifen hot pot. This new addition to their menu is an absolute game-changer. The rich and aromatic broth combined with the unique texture of the rice noodles creates a symphony of flavors in every bite. The assortment of fresh ingredients, including succulent seafood, tender meats, and vibrant vegetables, perfectly complements the broth, resulting in a harmonious blend of taste and textures. This is a dish that will tantalize your taste buds and keep you coming back for more. Now, let's talk about the hit item, the fried Chinese doughnut with shrimp paste and beef tongue. This delectable combination might sound unusual at first, but trust me, it's a match made in culinary heaven. The crispiness of the doughnut, coupled with the savory shrimp paste and the melt-in-your-mouth tenderness of the beef tongue, creates an explosion of flavors that is both surprising and addictive. Each bite is a delightful journey of textures and tastes, and it's no wonder that this item has become a crowd favorite.Apart from the fantastic food, the service at Liuyishou is second to none. The staff is incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready to assist you in creating your perfect hot pot experience. They patiently explain the menu, offer recommendations, and ensure that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional. The cleanliness and inviting ambiance of the restaurant further add to the overall charm of Liuyishou.
Solid place with fresh cuts of meat but frozen seafoods. The broths were average, we got a bone broth and tomato base (interesting with poached pear and lemon slices) single pots. Good portions, and decent price for the quality.
Spicy Chinese hot pot. Tastes not bad. They have adequate service people who are friendly and react to my needs quickly. And dressing is local Chinese flavor. You must try it.There are some good choices and fruit in self-help food bar.If you can't eat spicy food, I suggest you would not visit it.But you like try some spicy, I strongly recommend you visit the restaurant.
