The items I did end up picking were actually quite filling. Pretty long wait of 25 minutes during peak lunchtime, since I guess they were making stuff from scratch, but at least they were upfront about it so I could go for a walk and do a little shopping. Fried Chicken Sandwich w/ Fries: Very crispy chicken. Kinda like homemade chicken tenders that were twice-fried, but maybe spent a little too much time the fryer. The inside meat was a bit dry and tough, which is a shame since the exterior was so crispy and enjoyable. Liked the spicy and herbal Thai flavors. Paired nicely with the thick cut fries that had coconut peanut sauce for dipping. It was like your typical fried chicken sandwich fries, but also not-so-typical because of the Thai flavorings. Pork Belly Mapo Tofu Style : This was actually more like a hybrid of pork belly adobo and Thai curry. Had the nice vinegary tangy that pairs so well with pork belly, but also had a lot nice curry-like spices. And the tteokbokki rice cakes were a great starch choice. Gives you chewiness and starchiness, but doesn 't soak up all the juices like regular old rice can. Also, the various greens in the mix did a good job of contrasting the rich pork. Though a tad high in sodium since I was thirsty for a few hours after eating this, even after drinking a bit.
A shout out to Jonah Goldstein for creating the most delicious, creative and authentic Thai food. I've been to his amazing food truck any number of times and he never disappoints. He's a one man band in his kitchen so if it takes just a few minutes longer to get your meal, it's well worth the wait becuase he makes every dish to order. Can't wait to have his fabulous food again soon!
Had their chicken khao soi. This place gets an award for serving the blandest Thai food I 've ever had. Some pickled red chilis were provided to go with my meal. I put the whole container in and now I have vinegar chili flavored coconut milk. Even the chilis were bland. Definitely not aroy . Side note I used 8 tickets from the event I attended, which is the equivalent of $16 and the price of the dish I ordered. They charged me additional fees (tax and sf mandate) on top of this, which to my knowledge is covered in the ticket price (my event paid for tax and the sf mandate as part of the ticket price).
Disappointing for $16. I rarely post on Yelp but this was so bad I felt it necessary. Good thing we had two sisig burritos too
Great flavors, large portions, presentation on point and very fresh ingredients. Worth the wait.
