Hanaya Sushi - San Diego

The owner of this restaurant is an incredibly kind and charming man who runs the place all by himself! When my husband and I arrived near closing time, he took the time to recommend some rolls to us. The portions were incredibly generous! We also received a variety of delightful extras, including fruit, edamame, candy, drinks, and what seemed like an extra half roll for our toddler! I highly recommend this restaurant—I absolutely loved the dragon roll, especially the eel, which reminded me of the cooked eel I enjoyed in Japan. The owner genuinely cares about his customers and is just the sweetest person! You definitely need to visit! I just wish I lived closer so I could go more often!

The customer service here is truly exceptional. The sushi was outstanding—so creamy it practically melts in your mouth. The owner was also incredibly generous, offering us Japanese drinks and desserts to enjoy. I will definitely be returning!

Hee is incredible! He is hardworking, genuine, and kind, and his food is simply delicious! The ambiance is wonderful, and the service is fantastic! If you're in Sorrento Valley, you should definitely make a stop here!

My husband and I had such a great dining experience at Hanaya. The owner, Hee, was so kind. He was so busy but still made time to check in on us. He's running the place all by himself as he's still recovering from the hardships covid caused. The sushi was phenomenal. Great quality and flavor. This will definitely be one of our regular sushi spots from now on!
