Johnny's Steaks -be-que - Salado

First time at Johnny’s and was absolutely impressed with the hospitality and decor. We had a great time… Food and drinks were amazing!!!we will be back!

Johnny's Steaks BBQ is right off I35 in Salado. This is a father-son BBQ joint established in 2002 in Salado, and even before that. 22 years later, on a Wednesday night, almost all the tables are taken.Live music lineup includes Shenandoah on 4/26, Treaty Oak Revival on 5/3, Clay Walker on 5/11, Gary Allan on 6/22, and Flatland Cavalry on 6/27, with concert tickets priced at or under $50, or get closer to the band for more.Johnny's is the go-to spot for family dinners, folks unwinding after a hard day's work, or even retired locals enjoying a drink at the bar. All in the same night, the Mayor had his private party. The staff excel at handling large groups and serving hot food promptly. Sam, one of the bartenders offered me a fresh beer when she saw mine was low. This is the kind of place that supports football. You might even spot a manager personally saying bye to a loyal customer. The queso is delicious, they offer brisket for healthier options, and their hand-battered onion rings are a hit. A high-quality steak at an affordable price is hard to beat, and the talkative atmosphere makes it feel like one big family gathering. I was impressed by the kitchen staff's hard work in managing the quantity of food they had to prepare. It's truly a team effort there, and the locals can't get enough of it.

Can't speak for the food but I can speak for the concert venue...Parking? Absolute nightmare, got completely blocked inEntry? Completely unorganized and slowAlcohol Pricing? Way highWaited in line for an hour in the pouring rain just to have them delay entry by 30 min (with no announcement). tried moving up the main act by over an hour and cut the opener short after 4 songs. Then we got told to leave the venue and wait in the rain for another hour before they cancelled. All around a horrific experience that was handled terribly. Will not be returning for any future shows.Update: they are also deleting all negative comments on Instagram which I find hilarious

Heard the food was really great. Walked in, sat down, understood there would be a wait as they had almost a full house and there’s signs up about food being made fresh. After waiting over 5 minutes and making eye contact with a lot of the wait staff, not a single one approached or greeted us. When they approached the family that came in and sat after we did, I just walked out.

Best chicken fried steak. Drive from round rock to eat there.
