Friday nights used to be our end of the week treat, but we cannot go to Tamaki all the time. It gets boring.Anyway, I reserved for two. We bought a decent Bourgogne (Cellier, of course). I had no idea that there was this commercial restaurant inside a retirement residence. Okay, it does have a "cafeterias" fragrance, but we decided to give it a try.Unfortunately the full menu was not available, some sort of change in ownership or chef, so the choices were limited to spaghetti bolognaise, hamburger steak, foie de veau as well as the regular "Friday" menu. My girlfriend had the Steak frites, while I chose the Hamburger steak. Both came with soup (chicken/barley) which was quite good, in fact. There were veggies on the plate (plentiful and varied), very hot fries for the steak, and cold mashed for my meal. The meal included tea (cold), coffee (very good) and, in this case, dessert, a banana cake with chocolate sauce on top (actually quite good). There was another fruit, that I could not identify, in the cake, but overall it was fresh and, obviously, home-made.The steak was really medium rare, even if it was not very thick. It was tasty. So, too, was the sauce that accompanied it.As for the hamburger steak, it had to be cut with the steak knife. I think the meat was "overworked", but the taste was okay. I asked for the brown sauce on the side, but it came with the caramelized onions inside. This combination was excellent, the onions were sweet, the sauce light, not at all heavy and starchy, which was a pleasant surprise.Given that the prices were exceptionally reasonable ... imagine this ... we both ate for under $30.00, taxes included, there was nothing to really complain about. While the food was not excellent, it was good and wholesome. The service was fine, two young servers, who are probably students during the week. The chef came out to say "Hello" to the patrons. On the other side, the residents had their meal, and then it was dance time for them. The music was loud, and there was a lot of line dancing! At least the people were up, and moving, which is not bad at all!So, to sum up, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have a decent meal, nothing fancy, but you won't get sick. You can bring your favorite bottle of wine with you. The room is spacious. The service is good. polite, and you are not rushed. The restaurant closes at 8:30, so for late diners, this might not be the place for you.Don't go there expecting a Cordon Bleu experience, but overall, you will leave full, and your wallet will still have something "green" in it!
This restaurant has excellent food, welcoming service, and well-maintained restrooms. We highly recommend trying the benedict or the poutine. Conveniently situated in the center of Saint Sauveur.
Fast and convenient! The highlights: easily accessible location, a variety of classic breakfast options, and a presentation similar to Chez Cora but at a more affordable price.
While traveling through Quebec, we were searching for a fantastic breakfast spot near the highway.
