Bay Horse Inn - Ryedale

Where do I begin? Sunday's Riff Roast grisly beef, soggy broccoli/cauliflower, shop bought Yorkshire pudding, frozen carrots, pool of water on my plate, luke warm food. Without a doubt the worst Sunday lunch I've ever had. While a local went back even said they would never go there!

My wife and I went for a few drinks and a game of cards. The owner introduced himself and made us feel very welcome. Nice surroundings, good beer and great hosts. They also have live music and events on it over the next few months... which we certainly will be doing.

LARGE family meal here (17 of us and we were wonderfully looked after and accommodated. Everyone loved all of their food, service was excellent and prices very reasonable. Highly recommended.

6 of us stayed in a nearby converted barn and this bar become our local during our stay. On the friday a couple of us were a bit worse for wear and the staff were amazing. Thank you for looking after us and feeding Jet...with doggy biscuits.Oh and your chips are amazing!

This is a real hidden gem! Well worth a special trip to experience the very friendly service and outstanding food. About 10 mins drive from Richmond town centre, my satnav took us straight there. Dog friendly inside and out. You can sit at the front...and people watch across the village green, stay in the bar for a relaxed atmosphere, head through the back for a more formal restaurant, or go into the garden for a secluded, chilled experience. The produce is local and we both had pies absolutely delicious!! We were stuffed, it’s great value. Chips are fab. The staff (owners couldn’t have been more helpful, going out of their way to feed a family who had come in after the kitchen had closed and who were clearly having a very bad day. Definitely recommend, we would have gone back here but only found it on our last night!
