Burrito Grande - Roy

First time hubby and I ate here was 5 or so years ago. At the time the food was ok, but nothing to get excited about. However, we have a rule to try a place twice before marking it off our list. Two years ago, after remodeling, etc. we decided to try it again and used DD to deliver it. WOW, a total transformation from the first experience, this is now my GO TO mexican restaurant, LOVE LOVE LOVE the food. Husband wont order anything other than the Burrito Grande, he loves it and it is large enough for at least 2 meals. I struggle with what to order because I love the Carnitas SO MUCH, then there is the Nacho Grande (can you say die and gone to heaven? Then the Tacos, YUM. If you have not tried this place you REALLY SHOULD. Food arrives excellent, hot, and they give you two different salsas for the chips!

Nothing in this order was enjoyable. enchiladas were more like enchilada soup, the sauce was a broth. Red salsa had heat and no flavor. Salsa Verde was liquid with chicken chunks. green salsa was bland. Frys may as well have been mashed potatoes. I could go on but Ill end this with taco bell has higher quality Mexican food. will not order again.

Owner, Lulu, said no lard is used ever to cook beans. She said they are always cooked in only vegetable oil. She does not ever cook rice with any margarine or butter or chicken or beef broth. She only uses vegetable oil for the rice. She has 5 menu items which can be made vegan if you ask about vegan options. She does not have tomatoes by themselves, which was upsetting to me, as I do not like onions. She only has a mix of onions, tomatoes and cilantro (ehich is 80% ontons). The food is pretty good. It is now awe-inspiring, but pretty decent for the price. The service and speed is awesome half of te times we go and awful half of the times we go. think it depends on whether the owner is present. When she is, you will get great service and speed. When she is not, I have found that the servers and cooks are lazy, rude and just do not care. Maybe when you arrive, just ask if Lulu is in!!!

Order for one, but plan on paying and eating for two. Ordered a D10 and a couple of medium drinks which came out to be $25. The proportions are HUGE, so the price is understandable. All around such good yummy food.

Great food. Great staff. I order to hold things on the side and every time my order is correct. Their food is very consistent and always has a side salsa and sauce. Great customer service.
