Mikuni At Fountains - Roseville

I usually love Mikuni but our recent visit was a miss. Our waiter knew nothing about the sake list. The sake he recommended was so sweet, like literal nectar and undrinkable. My husband's food came 10 minutes before mine, so by the time I got my order he was almost finished eating. I ordered a roll from the gluten free menu and was extremely disappointed. Mikuni usually makes beautiful rolls and this one was so plain and lackluster. I get being gluten free but no green onions? Sesame seeds? No garnish at all. I was also not offered any kind of gluten free soy sauce until my husband got out of his seat to get the waiters attention and specifically ask. Very disappointed in our dinner service.

The food and service here are always excellent. This newer restaurant is nice and big, the bar is great and you can even sit outdoors if you wish. The menu looks so expansive and creative. It is not however inexpensive.

So bad. I’ve been a mikuni guy FOREVER. Do yourself a favor and go to hazel

Fresh and delicious rolls all the time, priced accordingly, it is always crowded and loud though.
