Plum Garden - Rochester

The sushi and sashimi at this restaurant are of good quality and the service is fast. However, there is an excessive amount of radishes, cucumbers, and ginger used as decoration to make the portions appear larger.

I had another fantastic meal at Plum Garden, but I have to give it 4 stars due to the shabby appearance of the tables and a strange smell when entering the restaurant. The interior could use some updating. However, they do serve the best fried rice I have ever had, out of the numerous ones I have tried in various places across the country, from here to Maine.

My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant and sat in the dining room. It was the worst experience we've ever had. We didn't have time to view the menu before our server came to our table and asked for our order. She rushed us to order our drinks and food, causing us to order the wrong items. When our food arrived, it was cold. We requested double rice instead of vegetables, and were told we wouldn't be charged extra, but we were still charged. When we brought this up to someone, all they said was "oh sorry" and walked away. We spent over $80 on two mediocre dishes. Overall, we were very disappointed and will not be returning to this restaurant.

The service at this restaurant is excellent. I always choose to sit on the dining side for the sushi. I highly recommend going on a Thursday when Compone is working, as he makes the best sushi.

We went to a Hibachi restaurant. The chefs we encountered were personable and engaged with us. The food was outstanding, perfectly seasoned to our tastes. The staff were very helpful, providing us with to-go boxes and the bill promptly when we needed to leave quickly for family reasons. Overall, we give it a 5 out of 5 and have found a new favorite Hibachi spot!
