Nice place, great park view, food was tasty but served lukewarm.
I 'd normally try to solve any problem during a meal, discretely, but I couldn 't, unfortunately. The following are suggestions from someone who have been working for the same industry for the last 15 years: After an order has been taken, bring the cutlery straight away After a while, check if everything 's alright with the food After the customer shows you a foreign object found in the food (the only time the server shows up, for the bill), there are a lot of things the business could do, but asking what 's that , it 's not in the list. I found a piece of plastic (like a kitchen thread) into my very expensive (yet as small as a starter, despite being a main course) lamb ragout, and I haven 't been able to tell to the server till the very end. The only thing I 've been told, after a very funny what 's that , was the less apologetic I 'm sorry I 've heard in a while. The credit card machine, on the other hand, arrived straight away, and I could pay really fast. About the food, the amount of sage and sage oil was so overwhelming, you could barely taste the lamb. If you wanna be a fancy restaurant (to offer a different food choice, which is highly appreciated), judging by the size and the price of the food, you should make sure to make it impeccable and, most of all, make sure not to leave packaging pieces when you cook it.
Had an afternoon tea during my visit to Kew Gardens today, what a disappointing experience despite such beautiful setting. For the price of £37 I expected to have loose leaf tea and not tea bags, the size of the scones was the smallest I have ever seen topped up by stodgy mini cakes and dried up sandwiches with less than average fillings. Not sure about the rest of the food offering but certainly would not recommend having an afternoon tea at this place.
It was lovely to be able to sit in pleasant lakeside surroundings after walking round gardens. But the food was very disappointing. Avoid the pulled rump of beef. It was very oily, tasteless and bland. Nice wine. Didn’t bother with dessert as oily taste in mouth put me off eating.
