Irie Ting Jamaican Grill - Richmond

I selected this restaurant for my Birthday Lunch, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. Our waiter, Zaire, was attentive and always ready to assist with anything we needed. I appreciated that I didn't have to ask for anything because he was always one step ahead. Zaire always had a smile on his face and was eager to help in any way. I will definitely be making this restaurant one of my regular spots when I crave authentic food. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Be sure to try it out and ask for Zaire as your waiter.

I would like to preface my review by stating that it is based solely on the food, as I ordered takeout and cannot comment on the in-person service. I placed an order with the restaurant on January 14th through Grubhub, with high hopes based on the reviews. I was looking forward to dishes like oxtails and rasta pasta, which I have enjoyed at Caribbean/Jamaican restaurants in New York. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food I received. My mother and I ordered oxtail, rasta pasta, beef patties, fried plantains, and coco bread to share. Every item was a letdown. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the manager offered a refund for the oxtails and sides when they were out of oxtails. The rasta pasta was far from authentic, with a basic Alfredo sauce, noodles, spinach, and tomatoes. I paid extra for shrimp, but there were only a few pieces. The coco bread was nothing more than a plain bun, lacking the usual toasted and flavorful qualities. The plantains were mediocre and bland. The beef patties, saved for the next day, were also flavorless. Overall, I was highly disappointed with the lackluster food.

The food arrived in a messy state, with the top crushed and open. There were juices from the curry goat spilling in the bag instead of on the food. The portion size was so small that it was ridiculous, especially considering I paid for a large. I took a picture before my son started eating, as I couldn't believe how poorly presented the food was. It's a shame because the food actually tasted good, but I will not be ordering from this restaurant again. They need to improve their packaging and overall quality as it was not worth the money.

We had an amazing experience here today 3/1 . I usually get a togo order , because I do not live in town. I?ll probably start eating inside now ??. The drink blue motorcycle) was sooo good. Our server he was on top of everything and very kind. I ordered the large oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage . This was my first time trying the macaroni and cheese ???? it was amazing ???????.

I had the butter beans and saltfish. It came with rice an peas and cabbage. Even with a small it was so much food and the price was MORE than reasonable. Its so hard to find great tasting authentic Jamaican food and this spot was FIYAA! Definitely will revisit.
