Thai Son - Richmond

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. We ordered the special pho and two dishes of broken rice. The pho was too salty and the broken rice was not served correctly - the rice was soggy. The grilled meat was overly sweet. I would only give this place 1 star, but I am giving it 2 stars because the server was beautiful and attentive. Even though he was on his break and having lunch, he still made an effort to acknowledge and greet the diners.

Thai Son is a chain of Vietnamese Pho restaurants with branches in Vancouver and Richmond. Their latest location can be found at the Richmond Smart Centre, near the Wal-Mart Superstore. We visited on a Sunday just after 11am and were able to choose from several available tables as it wasn't crowded yet. The menu seemed to be consistent with the other locations, although it looked slightly worn out.

The service was satisfactory, the food was delicious, and my favorite dish is their seafood dry noodle. The restaurant has relocated near the new Walmart complex, with plenty of parking space. It is a family-friendly establishment. Would I return? Absolutely.

Oh wow! The shrimp, pork, and bean sprouts stuffed Vietnamese crepe is incredible! It's crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and so big! The portions are generous and the food is fresh. They also offer all the traditional pho toppings. The ice-cold condensed milk silk was delicious too, with a taste reminiscent of white candy.
