This is a small Hong King style congee and wonton restaurantFrom the menus the price is right and have variety of choices.
Came here for breakfast while visting Vancouver from CaliforniaI ordered the preserved egg
My wife and I love our congee and decide to look up some good places for congee in and around the Richmond area on our recent trip.Tai Hing was one of those that popped up with great reviews.Small store front but like other stores in this strip mall, they are very deep. Tai Hing was quite spacious. We sat at a table near the entrance and was greeted by the waitress very quickly with Chinese tea.My wife's Chinese tea was quickly replaced by hot water as soon as the waitress notice my wife was expecting. Very diligent! We even complemented her and thanked her for doing so.The menu was quite comprehensive and essentially any varieties of congee could be accommodated. I had the traditional HK Style Congee and it actually came in a combo; with my congee I could also select one of 4 available side dishes. I remember there was the soya sauce fried noodle as well, but I selected the Chinese Donut wrapped in rice crepe. Another traditional snack item that you would dip in peanut sauce and hoisin sauce. The congee was very delicious and it has a lot of meat and seafood. Definitely do not cheap out like many other places by giving you more congee but less of the more expensive ingredients. The congee was also very well done, smooth and creamy texture. The Chinese Donut in rice crepe was also done very well too. Donut was still crispy while the rice crepe wrapped around the donut very well and served hot!My wife had the Pork & Intestines Congee, which definitely taste soooo much better than it sounds. Quite a traditional dish too actually. Will definitely return for their congee and perhaps also try out their noodles next time
Hole in the wall, cheap, crowded, in and out, it offers HK/Canto style congee, steamed rolled rice noodles (plain, with dried shrimp, or with meat or fresh shrimp), a variety of noodles, wontons, hawker style food like turnip in soup, fish balls, even "pig blood". Congee is outstanding, but the steamed rice noodles shines.
