Galiano Cafe - Richmond

I fly out of YVR South Terminal every week. I am always greeted with a big smile at Galiano cafe. The service is outstanding, I always get the same order a wonton soup (which is delicious) and glasses of red wine (at only mean for an airport thats a steal). I am a very nervous flyer hence the glasses of wine. Its a modest cafeteria style place (do not expect anything fancy) with much cheaper prices then if your flying out of the main terminal, I always look forwards to it before my flight.

I am disappointed that this is the only dining option at the South Terminal. The menu is limited and everything I tried was unappetizing and unsatisfying. This was the worst meal I had during my vacation. They should offer more freshly made dishes with real flavor, instead of just serving packaged processed food that seems to have been microwaved. Yuck.

As I stare down at the congealed, fluorescent yellow excuse for a bernase sauce and struggle with my bending plastic cutlery on the leathery “ hash browns “ I wonder why I ever came back to eat breakfast at this place. They have a captive...market at the South Terminal but really, if you have the time go to the Flying Beaver for your brunch If you don’t have time,take up intermittent fasting as a pass time.

I ate at this restaurant while waiting at the South Terminal. If you're feeling hungry, I recommend eating before heading to the terminal! I opted for the express breakfast and was disappointed. It's hard to mess up a simple breakfast, but they somehow managed to do so. The toast was cold and overly buttered, the sausages were unappetizing, and the scrambled eggs were flavorless. There are much better dining choices outside of the airport.

While the appearance of this restaurant may not be appealing, it is important to note that the South Terminal at YVR is quite small with limited options inside. However, there is a fantastic pub nearby if you are willing to take a short walk. The panini offered here is more like a grilled cheese sandwich and the beer selection is limited to Canadian or Bud in bottles. While the prices may not offer great value, it is a convenient option for a quick meal.
