We made our way through to the main part of the restaurant where three large tables had been...reserved for us. It was loud and lively. But the waitresses seemed to have everything more or less under control. The waitress who mainly served us sported bright red, short cropped hair. She was efficient, systematic and fun. I started off ordering a large glass of the draft Heller Hans which was very refreshing. For my meal I went for a half a pigs knuckle (Schweinshaxe) which was huge. The skin was incredibly crispy just done the way I like it. This was served with a couple of dumplings and some refreshing Krautsalat cabbage salad. As the evening wore on I wanted to try the Sprutz Pils The same cheerful waitress earnestly told me that this was a small beer in a large glass. I thought she was joking because it was priced almost the same as the other half litre glasses. But, no. True to her word it was just as she described. Apparently, around these parts it's what you might want to order as the last one for the road drink after a heavy night of drinking. Anyway, we all enjoyed our rustical style of Bavarian pleasure here. Don't expect Haut Cuisine here. And don't expect a nice, quiet romantic evening. I found the place just too noisy to allow for normal conversations. There was one particular table of middle aged men close to ours who spent the whole evening shouting jokes and stories to each other and laughing uncontrollably. All highly exaggerated as if they were in a competition to see who could laugh the loudest.
As a tourist.. this is a good introduction to german food. Food and drinks are great! Will be coming back on the next visit
We ate here one evening and enjoyed both the beer and the food.We had the weisswurst, even though it was past noon. It was very good, as was the salad.
Have visit here many times and always a pleasure to tell TripAdvisor fans it is worth visiting. The are main areas for eating, the central area which can get busy with guest heading towards the toilets at the end. Then left and right are...additional eating rooms. Do not, repeat do not sit at any table with the sign Stammtisch, this is reserved for special locals that use that table. As always the food is great and I believe Kneitinger is one of the best beers in the world.
A traditional, large and busy restaurant in Arnulfplatz in the old city.Service was rapid and efficient and portions were huge. My wife chose pork knuckle enough for three, and my Wiener Schnizel was easily sufficient for two. While gastronomic levels were unremarkable, the food...was good and offered excellent value for money
