My friend introduced me to this restaurant and I'd have to say it's my new favorite Italian place in Puerto Vallarta. It's quaint, cozy, and kind of hidden...but it's a gem of a find. For starters, we ordered the Beef Carpaccio. Absolutely delicious...with shaved Parmesan. I added some pepper and olive oil to mine, superb! Then, for the entre we had "MEZZE MANICHE Ai Frutti Di Mare". We asked for the spinach linguina as the pasta (they allow you to make pasta substitutions). One of the best seafood pastas I've had in years (photo attached). Also, it couldn't have been a nicer meal thanks to our waitress, Georgia (from Italy!). We also got to meet Rafa and Antonio (the chef). Such a friendly team.I can't wait to come back to try the other pasta dishes as well as the many pizzas they offer. As I said above, I think this is my new favorite Italian restaurant in Puerto Vallarta.
When in a different country (from my home USA), I try to eat the local cuisine. So when we recently visited Puerto Vallarta again, we ignored every restaurant except what appeared to be authentic Mexican places. But one night we just had a taste for Italian food. In our Romantic Zone neighborhood just off Olas Altas we found a little place that looks like nothing at all---Pasta Fresca. But the facade is a deception. Once inside, we could tell it was spotless, nice decor, good fragrance from kitchen, a nice bar area in the corner, and about 10 tables. The real surprise came when we talked with the owner and head waiter, Ruben. He went through the menu in a meticulous way, telling us about all the fresh ingredients that go into the dishes. It was so good, we went back a second time before we returned home. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. The spaghetti pomodoro is simple, very fresh, and delish. I had the Pesce of the Day, fresh salmon, and it was fantastic, both times. Very nice ambiance, very clean, friendly staff, great food. Reasonable price too. Fine dining experience, but not expensive.
Generally the food and service is fine: they worked to accommodate our group of eight without a reservation. Our waiter recommended the lasagna as the ‘do not miss’ menu item - one of the group found it mediocre, another two liked it. The menu has a decidedly odd English translation, and the waiter was not a lot of help. He agreed that the ‘scaloppina di pollo’ dish [“to the pesto to the parmigiana and to the lemon” - whatever that means] had chicken, but claimed that the ’fusilli al tonno’ dish had no tuna (?!). Dive in, it’s probably ok.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere all at extremely reasonable prices. Reuben, your host, is excellent. He started us off with some eggplant and fried rice balls. We had the spaghetti and meatballs and fettuccine a la rosa sauce. Small comfortable space. Great meal and experience. Highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed or go away hungry.
