I got the spirit pepper chili Rellenos, but they were not very hot, which was a little disappointing. My friend got her version of the loaded nachos that were decent. Another friend got the combination of a taco, small burrito and rice. She thought it was pretty decent. We had to ask for chips and salsa several times and the salsa was in a bottle. But then Obama came and ate, so it was cool to see the table. And of course the margaritas. Come here for the Margaritas!
My wife love the quesadilla, served hot and cheesy. combo #3 is a full meal with tamale, pork with big pepper wrapped in omelette. I love the spice. I'm just overwhelmed with the soup involved. Jorge's burrito with beef is good for 2. taste ok but not satisfied with beef quality (frozen ground beef). Maybe chicken is better.
The food was good, not great. I expected more from a restaurant in that area of the country. The sopapillas were huge and bland.
I have been going to Jorge's since about 1990 when it was on Northern. Top level green chili; not gravy like a lot of other places. And make sure to get the chili, as the food is fairly bland without it. I usually get the huevos rancheros. Lots of flavors and not too big on the portions. Tried the Chile relleno recently and it was a bit odd...wrapped in egg rather than battered and deep fried, but still tasty. Table of 7 came to $140, which isn't outrageous... just a little disappointing. Can't be a frequent stop. The margaritas never disappoint. Truly the place to take out of towners if they want a genuine sample of Pueblo. Obama agrees.
The service is excellent! The taco meat, chicken, ground beef and chipotle is all extremely bland. Mexican food is supposed to challenge your pallet!!! The chicken tastes like it was boiled in water with no seasonings. They offer two taco shells, corn and flour. The corn is definately more crunchy. The flour was good, but more on the chewy side. The refried beans are over salted, but very tasty. Chips and salsa arrived in a bowl and dispenser. The salsa is fresh, and made from ristra chilies and water. They need to make it less watery.... Overall, spouse and I were disappointed with the meal... $30.00 for 5 tacos, water, tea, and chips and salsa and a side of beans. We did see some amazing looking chimichangas, and enchiladas come out of the kitchen. Hopefully they were not as bland for their customers... My wife likes bland food... I like habanero peppers... she commented it was too bland for her. Note to chef... learn to use some spices other than salt!
