La Carreta Mexican - Portsmouth

Management needs to do a better job of training their employees on where to seat families with children. The hostess seated us at the top of the stairs at the front where every waiter carried big trays of drinks or food right above our child in a high chair as they went up the stairs. My wife and I could not enjoy our meal due to the location of our table and we ended up leaving early.

The food at this restaurant is amazing, the staff is very friendly, the portions are generous, and the food came out quickly! The salsa is delicious and the chips are crispy. The drinks are fantastic as well. Thank you!

Service is spotty. In some defense of the waitress, is was quite loud. She got our drink order wrong. Brought a margarita instead if beer. I did not make her correct it and the margarita was good however. The food on the other hand was not good at all. I can't see how anyone can rate the food highly. Maybe I'm spoiled by good Mexican food in my part of the country.

Absolutely loved this place. The wife got tanked off one margarita. The cheese dip was quickly devoured and the Chile relleno and taco special was some of the better Mexican food I've had and the salsa was a great consistency. Some of the best Mexican food in the area.

Service was pretty terrible, but those guys in the kitchen were the saving grace. I didn’t want to eat there, but it was my wife turn to choose. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor of our meals. We shared an appetizer and a Molcajete meal, which was huge and pretty tasty. I would go back just for that same dish.
