The Original Halibuts - Portland

I ordered the catfish and clam chowder. Both dishes were extremely salty and peppery, overpowering all other flavors. It was too much for my liking.

Oh my goodness! This restaurant is absolutely amazing! The halibut is incredibly fresh and just melts in your mouth, while the crispy outer crust adds the perfect crunch. This is definitely one of the best halibut dishes I've ever had.

I use a rating scale of 1 to 5 points for food. A score of 1 means they do not pay much attention to the end of the meal, 2 means it's pretty good, 3 means it is quite delicious and I would likely return, 4 is reserved for those moments when the food is heavenly and takes your breath away, and 5 is a rare occurrence that stays with you for months. This restaurant has fish and chips that have ruined all others for me. It has been over a year since my last visit, but I still think about the amazing meal I had there. The ambiance is that of a standard sports bar, but the live jazz music adds a nice touch. The service is friendly, although I often get lost in the amazing food and forget about everything else. I hope this place stays open forever, as I would travel from Seattle to Portland just to eat here. It's that good.

It's always wonderful! My wife adores the classic fish and chips with malt vinegar. I can't resist the coleslaw, it's just perfect. The slaw is very refreshing, the fries are just right. The only thing that would make it better would be if I could get some fried okra with the coleslaw. Instead of dining in tonight, we ordered from Grubhub, and it was just as hot and crispy as dining in. If you're craving some good fish and chips, or some catfish that would satisfy anyone south of Amarillo, make sure to stop by and try the original halibut for yourself, you won't be disappointed!
