Cannot recommend this enough! Folks, location and rooms are wonderful!! Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Romantic, Great value

We had tonight scheduled for 7 guests, 600£. The ferry had technical issues and did not sail today. They called to tell us this as we were arriving at the port to come over, and we confirmed no sailing due to the ship being down. Now you would think that this is outside our control, so...we could discuss a full or partial refund. Nope. We were told to take it up with CalMac and shove off. They 'll charge the empty rooms tonight for 600£ and probably sell them to people stuck on that end too. With that kind of understanding and compassion, I 'd find somewhere else. I 'll be sure to pass the word on social media. This is ridiculous. This was a trip for my elderly parents to see Islay one last time, and they paid for the grand kids to come too. Now they are wrecked and told to go fill out a form with CalMac, go on. I know they 'll point to their policy and it 's an island, it happens well then how bouts you go fetch it with CalMac then for costing you business instead of making the poor pensioners...sick

We stayed for a few nights using this as our base for distillery visits. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable and in addition to the two bars there’s a comfortable lounge where you can eat and drink. The breakfast is excellent. A great choice for a full cooked breakfast which is prepared to order once you’ve had your pastries, cereal, fruit, yoghurt and juice. Great coffee too! Great value and perfect for a short stay.

Great hotel decorated with true flair and well appointed. Not cheap but probably the best address in town. Jack the barman/ night reception is the most friendly and accommodating person I have met. Great lounge room and bar and of course the best views in town. Unfortunately they don’t have a restaurant but a cafe open for lunch only. Breakfast room is lovely with some nice fresh fruit offerings and traditional cooked fare that maybe is edging on basic. However if you want a luxury experience, this is your hotel.
