A friend and I made a lunch date and decided to visit this restaurant. We both ordered sandwiches and onion rings, and we were pleasantly surprised! The sandwiches had fresh bread and deli meat, and the onion rings were crispy and delicious. Despite the building's dated decor and slightly run-down appearance, the food made it all worth it.
That's when I came across the Coffee Hut. It didn't look fancy from the outside, but I noticed a small sign saying they served full meals. I went in and found seating for around 30 people, with most of the tables occupied. Although there wasn't a sign indicating to be seated, I approached the counter to ask about ordering. The lady working there informed me it was full service, so I took a seat. I perused the menu, which mainly consisted of hamburgers, sandwiches, and salads. I decided to try the Cabbage Soup of the day along with a Garden Salad. Despite the lack of wifi, I managed to pick up a signal from a nearby business and occupied myself with reading the news while waiting for my meal. The soup turned out to be excellent – piping hot, filled with hamburger, and bursting with flavor. The salad arrived shortly after, and I was pleased to find it crisp, finely sliced, and featuring a good variety of vegetables. The food passed the taste test, and the service was also top-notch. The Coffee Hut may not look like much from the outside, but its cleanliness and quality of food proved that appearances can be deceiving. If you're ever in Ponoka and in the mood for a sandwich place other than Tim Hortons, I highly recommend giving the Coffee Hut a try.
