Pizza Express Barbican - Plymouth

I had a pizza with mozzarella alternative that was pretty good. I was impressed.

Pizza express is always a safe choice. it's great that they have some new vegan options, I have the new pine nut pizza that was delicious, the cheese on it was also great (I'm really fussy about vegan cheese and not find many I liked though I would say that they are a little mean with the beats, and a bit extra would not go a miss, I have wobbled on mine, and they won't get an extra 1.95. the chairs were very torn and many were glued together, they could do with some renovation.

I visited Pizza Express today on 12/4/24 around 2pm and the Classic Margherita I ordered was the best I've ever had at this restaurant. The chef on duty deserves a raise for creating such a delicious pizza. It had so much flavor compared to their usual standards, it was truly amazing.

This Pizza Express location offers a standard menu and prices similar to other branches. However, it does not use a wood fire oven; instead, pizzas are cooked in an electric or gas oven with a steel body that closes shut. While the pizzas are cooked well, they lack the burnt edges and flavor typically associated with wood fire ovens. On multiple visits, we found that this location frequently runs out of ingredients. The new Arancini balls starter was advertised on every table, but we found them to be soggy on the outside, cold on the inside, and lacking in flavor, texture, and aroma. Despite only having two waiting staff, the service was excellent. Conveniently, there is plenty of free parking available right outside the restaurant.

Plymouth Barbican Pizza Express. Very disappointed. Our pizzas arrived 45minutes after ordering and were cold. The starters hadn’t been cleared away when the pizzas finally arrived. The children were hungry and upset. The bill for 2 adults and 2 children, soft drinks only, was £97. We are regulars at pizza express because you know what you will get, reasonable food, service and prices but after this we will go elsewhere.
