They will be amazed to discover such talented, tasteful and vision on a busy road beyond the tourist zone. come ready to taste fresh local food turned into dishes that are not only delicious but artistically presented. this beautiful couple adds up. so good. we have them for dinner on Thanksgiving, and were treated with dressed that reflects our holiday aromas echo and also our unique preferences and tastes. because the menu changes weekly, the name of certain dishes is not helpful, since the time the other traveling dines will probably change the menu. Please note that they do not have a fleet license at this time, if this is essential for their enjoyment of a meal, please note. it has not distracted from the experience for us in any way.
Chef René and his wife Karla believe in creating great food and exceptional meals for love and not for money. Their attitude and approach to making everyone happy embodies the meaning of copate. What may be found here on a changing week to week basis is all...locally sourced and nothing short of exceptional in an area more celebrated for tourist ubiquity. Very simply, the quality of food and originality of dishes far exceeds any 5 star or hotel restaurant at five times the price in the QR region. With a four table capacity of maybe 18 people in total, Copate Che is a charming hole in the wall, a perfect and wholly unexpected treasure, to be sought out by anyone who really enjoys great food at prices that shame those who insist on only haute in haute places at haute expense. Essentially Argentinian, Copate Che also embraces Mexican, Mediterranean and European with occasional Asian influences. Think small homemade brioches baked with local cheese and freshly made angel hair pasta with mushrooms alongside grilled Pacific lobster, tuna tartar on cabbage ceviche with mango mousse, beef filets with spinach gnocchi, ricotta ice cream with fig marmalade and so on and on... as long as René keeps sourcing and imagining. With a little warning, Chef René will also prepare superb 3 course blind dinners that never fail to surprise both in originality and value for only $380 MXN (around $21 USD) per person. Single dishes of equal notice are priced as low as $9:00 USD allowing exploration a la carte without breaking the bank. Copate Che does not have a liquor license but they excel in wonderfully refreshing organic mocktails (melon with ginger, sparking blackberry with rosemary). In a place that excites with its own natural exuberance there simply is no need for alcohol. So seriously, if you want to be recognised as someone in the know, with the confidence to take a very few paces off the predictable tourist path, Copate Che is more than worth the few minutes it takes to walk just under four blocks west of Avienda 5. If you don 't, you 'll never understand the meaning of Copate!
Copate Che reminded us of La Farigoule, the similar hidden gem of Cannes: it has 2 tables outside and 3 tables inside, therefore booking is an absolute must. All the meals we 've had were excellent: the white fish soup with artichoke, the grilled octopus and...the fried calamari were awesome. Do not expect a huge menu, just be ready to enjoy whatever the chef Pardo, called Papi by his charming wife, cooked for the day. Everything is fresh, tasty and prepared with love right in front of your eyes. We will go again, for sure, as the menu changes every week.
