Understand you keep the price high to keep the rift raft away but that's robbery. And if that's what makes you successful then I commend you. But I won't be back.
The map room is your typical hole in the wall bar. There's usually locals here and they are all friendly. I enjoy coming here for a Inexpensive drink with friends. They have a good amount of beer on tap and they can pour some nice liquor. Once I came here and ask for an old-fashioned and the bartender working wasn't exactly sure how to make it so don't expect any fancy cocktails here it's just not that kind of bar. I've had meetings here for local nonprofits that I volunteer with which is nice that they aren't super busy and we can meet at a bar. I'm honestly not sure if they serve food but they definitely let you bring in takeout which is cool.
Local bar with a neighborhood crowd and vibe. They have several East End brews on tap, as well as Yuengling and Guinness. While they do have a fully stocked bar, don't expect a craft cocktail menu; it is just not that kind of place.
Best bar in Pittsburgh and unpretentious (rare these day)drink and beer opitions are not written on a gaint chalkboard and no exposed brick which is a huge plus. The Map Room is not a Sports Bar (though a game is on t.v Rather it is a bar were you can actually have conversation in. An oasis in a city fillied either preteniuos yuppie\hipster (there is no difference but age between these groups) fake over priced bars or loud and dumb sports bars.
Nice quiet place it would be 5 stars if there was food.
