Enoteca La Dolce Vite - PISA

Lovely winebar serving small plate of aperitivo (appetizers) on the side. Owner is most helpful and friendly. Gives great advise on wines and let's you taste before serving. Great location too with a terrace on a marketsquare. I would recommend this to friends!

I stumbled across this little place and so glad I did. It has a wide selection of excellent wine with experienced staff to make recommendations. Whilst waiting for my cheese platter I was given the most remarkable aperitivo 'snack ' of bread with Anchovy, olive oil, grape, pine nuts and lightly fried onion... Delicious

The food scene, in my opinion, in Pisa is a bit dire. There are scores of tourist restaurants serving the same bland pasta and limp, cardboard pizza at totally inflated prices to the throngs of tourists desperate for a meal. The other places seem to be sandwich shops (or even kebab shops), which sound as lack lustre as they are. La Dolce Vite totally saved us from this very average food scene. The food is fresh, most of it organic and locally sourced the goat ricotta and beef for the tartare (as well as the exquisite summer truffles) came from a local farm just outside of Pisa. The wines are wonderful. The list by the glass is not huge but it is excellent. I also had to say (sorry Grandma) the eggplant/aubergine alla parmigiana is the best I've ever had. The staff is welcoming, the decor is charming and the food and wine are perfect. This absolutely made our trip to an otherwise bland and boring town.
