We were driving through the village and were surprised to see the village pub open. We wish we had continued driving. The staff were unfriendly and made us feel like we were intruding. We ordered fish and chips, but did not finish the meal as we both found the fish tasteless, like it was frozen. It's a pity, as with different staff and freshly home-cooked food, it could be a much better experience.
We dropped the Grand child off at her Horse riding session then looked in the area for a bite to eat. We had a main meal only and it was good freshly cooked and the coffee was great. That's all we asked for. There are quite a few curio's around the Bar with model collections and some War time memorabilia. There is also a working model railway running above and along the full length of the Bar. It is quite entertaining, while keeping you occupied while waiting for your meal.
Lovely old pub with a great atmosphere and very good food with lots of interesting items to look at on the walls and shelves. Marco the owner is very friendly.
Living just a short walk from the Inn, my partner and I eat here at least twice a week and have done so for 8 years. The food, while not cordon bleu, is nonetheless excellent. There are three menus to choose from, In house , Take away or the blackboard, all served inside the pub.We always have a main course, a glass of wine and coffee, the coffee comes with a small dish of chocolates. Our total bill has never been more the £26! The pub although small (seating for 20) is warm and friendly, the landlord, Marco, who usually copes on his own, is friendly and interesting, having an extensive knowledge of the area and its history. Children love to go there as there is a model train running around the bar and lots of collectables behind the bar, they treat Marco like an uncle as he supplies a variety of games to keep them entertained whilst in there with their parents.
Great little pub, lovely locals, good food to eat in or take away. I am in crook of devon a lot and enjoy eating here. They do a good banana split and there is always good specials on.
