Everything was not only fresh, but beautifully presented. They also carried a wonderful selection of local wines
This restaurant has a very quaint and charming atmosphere with absolute superb food! There were 5 of us who all ordered something different yet we shared a taste of our own dish with everyone and it was unanimous that the food was some of the best we have had in the Okanagan! We prefer chef prepared fresh food vs chain restaurants and this place is a must try! The gardens surrounding the restaurant are where the herbs, potatoes, and veg come from to prepare each dish! The service was also excellent. The only sad thing is this place could be busier but it's location is away from lakefront which is where all the people go! Sadly people are missing this most excellent gem of both superb food and quaint atmosphere! When we return to Penticton, we will most definitely eat there again!!
This restaurant is located in a heritage building surrounded by by gardens and they organically grow many of their herbs and vegetables.
We have eaten at Bogners a total three times since 2008. Our first two visits were absolutely superb - service and food. We there last night - a Friday - there were only 3 tables eating that should have told us something. We ordered their special for $35 (each) five courses which the whole table had to take (a family serving which you divide). The reason we took it - of the 6 items listed on the a la carte menu - two were not available. Reading the description of the five courses sound wonderful – big suprises in store for us: The first course came - deep fried balls of coated chicken and balls of veggie mix. There was no mention that there was deep fried anything - we were expecting light well prepared delicately flavored and ended up with a plate full of grease. Next course a fried egg dropped unceremoniously on cauliflower sprig with a slice of bacon. Grease count now at two. Third course promised shrimp but instead cocktail shrimp coated in mayo with some kind of green pasty veggie which was more like a dip. Very rich - terrible to eat after two servings of grease. But on we go hopeful 4th course would bring us something fresh. It turned out to be a chunk (about the size of a hard boiled egg) of pork belly which i suspect was also deep fried. We cut into it to discover it was 85% fat with one thin layer of meat – revolting I would not serve it to my dog. We are now up to our armpits in grease and fat. For the final course crème brulee - a super rich dessert pairing with an already overly rich greasy oily meal. When we arrived home we all chewed on tums to help cope – I felt sick. We all agreed that this was the WORST meal we had ever eaten at any restaurant. I suspect this may not have been the regular chef - no qualified chef would have combined this assortment of courses - not to mention awful deep fried greasy servings to begin with that you would not expect a gourmet restaurant to offer . The service was excellent but what she served us was abominable. The price of their meals is exorbitant but given past reputation and experiences we were willing to spot the extra - this latest meal however was revolting AND expensive. We are NEVER EVER going back. Bogners you should be ashamed of yourselves for letting your quality dip so dramatically and expect your loyal clientele to accept garbage out of a deep fryer.
Beautiful place to eat. It was very cozy, perfect temperature in there. The service was phenomenal, and the wine was great! The food was really quite tasty, best broccoli I've ever had and that was only part of one of the dishes in our five course meal! The shrimp were great, every plate was delicious and the desert was excellent! I will definitely be returning when I'm back in town! I highly recommend eating here!!
