Flounder's Chowder House

Love flounders, just a few minutes walk from my house, this is a regular stop for the best chowder around, enormous appetizers (the seafood to taste, wing or tower of the tweebel rings), and freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit cocktails. Tuesdays are martini nights! we bought 4 gift cards for christmas and have already used three!

This was the only restaurant we visited during our holiday. Our first visit was a bit disappointing with slow service, missing sauces for our meal, and the waiter spilling our check multiple times. However, he did give us a delicious key lime cake sample. The food was good, especially the sushi which we enjoyed enough to come back for a second visit. The service during our second visit was much better and I appreciated the variety on the menu which made it difficult for me to choose what to order.

The atmosphere at the restaurant was fantastic. It had a casual, laid-back beach theme. The shrimp and spinach dip was incredible! The onion rings were good, but we would have preferred a powder coating instead of a broth-type one. I ordered the shrimp and bacon mac 'n cheese, and the shrimp were large and the dish was creamy and delicious. My husband had the stuffed flounder, which was also good. Our daughter ordered the blackened dish, which she enjoyed as well. The service was friendly and prompt, and the beer was cold. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

"The dining experience was excellent. I would highly recommend trying the stuffed flounder and orange marmalade cake. The cheesecake is also impressive, it's so large it could almost be a meal on its own.
