Bay Street Cafe - Parry Sound

Food quality was very good but the staff took it up a notch. Very friendly staff. Had the seafood chowder and caesar salad. Friend had the pickerel tacos. Love it. Great place to had a meal and drinks in Parry Sound.

We were looking for a place to go for lunch and after checking out the menu online we decided on this restaurant. We briefly waited outside to be seated. We were seated a safe distance from others and my name and number was requested (covid tracing). Although our table wasn’t clean upon arrival, it was cleaned in front of us (ketchup bottles etc were not wiped down). All visible staff wore masks. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived, but it started to pick up which was nice to see. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We both ordered fish and chips. I found the pieces of fish to be on the smaller side, but they tasted good. The French fries were obviously made from frozen and the portion was small, but still tasted okay. Fresh fries would have made all the difference. The coleslaw was good. We ordered a Mudslide dessert to share and it was delicious. We will definitely return.

My family and I dined at this restaurant for lunch on Saturday, August 29th. The two waitresses appeared to be very stressed, mentioning that they were having trouble finding staff due to the CERB. We were surprised that no one asked for our name or contact information for contact tracing purposes. Additionally, salt and pepper shakers and ketchup bottles were left on the tables, which we have seen removed from other restaurants due to Covid-19 precautions. We did not see the tables being cleaned after patrons left, and overall we left with a feeling of unease about the cleanliness of the establishment. Unfortunately, a few days later, a staff member tested positive for Covid-19. If this had happened on the day we were there, we would have had no way of knowing as our information was not collected. This is concerning to us, and we do not plan on returning to this restaurant.

My partner and I went to this restaurant for dinner one evening and thought the food was delicious, but we felt that it was a bit on the expensive side for the portion sizes. We tried the Pickerel Dinner and the Fish Tacos, and really enjoyed both dishes. The server was extremely welcoming and attentive.

The service at this restaurant was quick and extremely pleasant, but that was the only highlight. The portion of Calamari for the appetizer was disappointingly small and the fish and chips turned out to be frozen fish sticks. I was taken aback when I inquired about it with the server, as this was information that should have been disclosed before we placed our order. Additionally, the coleslaw was warm because it was served with hot food on the same plate, when it should have been served cold in a separate dish.
