We had the chicken thali, chicken xacuti and butter garlic squid. The food was great and the servings are pretty decent. Also the food is not extremely spicy, a big advantage when you are dining with kids. I want to go back and try their fish and mutton curries.
We ordered the local fish thali (Lepo fish) and a plate of bombil. The thali was very tasty especially the prawns curry. The bombil preparation was lovely as well. It was fresh and the rechad masala preparation was a delight to eat. A must go place for bombil lovers. The guy managing this place is very polite and courteous which adds up to the overall experience.
Bombil.. small outlet opposite Kala academy in panjim.<br/ Staff is courteous. <br/ If you are in Goa, this restaurant should be in your wish list for sure. <br/ Homely Goan food is served.<br/ Fish is fresh and tasty but do try their veg thali also, simple yet scrumptious and affordable as well. <br/ <br/ <br/
You get the best food from hole-in-a-wall eateries. And that is definitely true for Bombil, that sits, literally, in a slice of a wall adjoining the Military Hospital in Panjim. One trip to it and you would remember this place for a long time. During the course of my stay in Goa, me and my colleague ate here 3-4 times, each time trying something new (menu gets handwritten on a blackboard). Ask the server for recommendations (and if he has coloured hair, say hello to Lokesh). It is quaint, humble, you'd probably be sharing your eating bench with a total stranger, but it is the taste of the fresh catch that will hook you in. Try the fish meal, the mutton meal, the rawa coated King fish steak and the Masala Calamari. The last two, I'd bet my last rupee on!When next in Goa, show Bombil some love!
This restaurant was our accidental discovery. I am not from Goa, visited the place a tourist. I was looking for authentic place, which will serve humble food and then we found Bombil Restaurant. The idea is avail people home cooked food, they do not have a chef. A lady cooks the food, they have fixed menu for a particular day, except of the sides. Our thali consisted of Brown rice, prawns curry, Fish ambotik, kokum sharbat, dried fish/baby prawns fry, aubergine pickle, papad, raw mango, clams curry a sabji. For Staff, as I had already mentioned they were super friendly. Cost wise too very pocket friendly.
