Their gas pumps are a little old school but other than that, I couldn't ask for much more. The owner is a wonderful kind hearted lady. I'm just thankful there's a gas station all the way out here!
Love the people here, very friendly and helpful. Selection is great, they have all the staples. I was just passing through but I'll be stopping by on my way back.
It's a country liquor store. In Butte. At the base of Pioneer Peak. It looks like a liquor store in the bush, if there were such a thing. Not a lot of selection, NO AC, exceedingly rustic interior. They got stuff that'll gitcha drunk though!
Driving past the Green Store Cafe, if you aren't a local you'd never know there was food served here. From the outside it looks like a rustic general store. We've been here twice now, simply because we were in Palmer to go to the Musk-Ox Farm and Reindeer Farm (which is a quarter-mile away). It's not a traditional restaurant, perhaps a small seating area and grill attached to a gas station/general store. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is average. Meanwhile, if you are in need of a quick burger you'll do fine here. Last time we tried to stop by for a bite, however, the restaurant was closed for some type of garage sale that was being held inside. On the other hand, when the grill is on you can expect an average burger (there wasn't much else on the menu) that's far better than any fast food option in Palmer. If that's what you're looking for, you'll find friendly service and nice people to hang out with here.
They aren't perfect, but they try to the point they're close. I go there often as it's close ish to my house. They are good people, however, they have a high turn around rate of employees. Just when I get to know someone, they vanish. The cafe is no longer running. They now sell liquor as well. Generally, for a store of its type, it's plenty sufficient for the tiny community of Butte. It has a customer following that dates back quite a while. Other stores that attempt to open up have difficulties competing with them and usually close down within a short amount of time, The Green Store keeps pluggin' along. Koodo's to them for never giving up. d:
