Inside is much better than outside look.Very nice services.
From the outside, it definitely isn't much to look at. When I went inside, it definitely felt like the restaurant needs a tune up. Everything looks pretty old and there is minimal workers at a time. This makes sense because it is fairly small but if it gets busy I'm not sure how they will keep up. Got the pork belly and it comes out pre sliced ready to be thrown on the grill. Pork belly was nice and flavorful, didn't have that pork smell that most places would have if they used very cheap cuts. The grilled eel was a pleasant surprise. Most places don't do eel and if they do, it is marinated. The eel was not marinated but had a little bit of salt on it, just the way I like it. It definitely was cooked very very slowly, probably because the coals were old? Not sure. Service wise, there is much to be worked on. Instead of giving you a whole thing of water, they just fill up your cup and leave, no matter how many times you ask. Doesn't seem very efficient. The workers seem to focus on 1 table and forget the rest. Cooked my own meat about half the time there. Side dishes are pretty standard, nothing surprising. Workers do seem very pushy and kind of rude. Nice place to come to once in awhile to avoid the crowd of people on Broad. Ave, but definitely not my first choice.
Terrible service! we ordered two servings for two people and she asked that's it? Do you guys not have money? How rude
One of my coworker recommended this place and she said that I must try their grilled eel. It's a fairly common dish eaten in Korea as it is believed to help with overall stamina. I haven't had a chance to have grilled eel in the states, for a very long time, so I was so excited. It's a bit pricey, but it was worth it. At first the fish looked flat, but once fully cooked, the meat got fluffy. It didn't have any fishy taste and was very fresh. We also had bean curd jigae which reminded me of my grandmother's cooking. Comfort food! I liked the banchan they gave us and my favorite was the kimchi with oysters. It's a BYOB place as well so we brought beer. It was a satisfying dinner to share with a friend. I will definitely visit again.
