We chose this restaurant as they offered a Charcuterie platter that on paper seemed very much like that we loved at a restaurant in Edinburgh Pickles. And as nice as it was it just didn't stand up to comparison. We started with an onion soup delicious but again not quite your Parisien classic. And then it was the platter. Whilst the components were all there charcuterie, dill, bread for a sharing platter they were in quite short supply. For the first time in Canada we felt the need for dessert as well as a starter which immediately made this quite an expensive meal out. Service was okay we felt at first as if we were an imposition although the staff did improve over time. Just not very welcoming.
Part of the Metcalf hotel very convenient a for quiet beer with friendly staff. Can be closed sometimes for private parties
Came here for dinner on our last night staying at the hotel. Staff were very friendly and when we went in we were told we could sit anywhere. They have a nice menu and food came with not much of a wait. While staying in the hotel if you opt out of housekeeping each day you get $5 to spend in The Rox, this was a nice bonus.
I ate at The Rox for breakfast one morning, as I had a hotel voucher. The service was great. The food not so great. One of the annoying things was being charged $3.50 for a cup of “Tazo tea” when what I received was a cheap Lipton tea bag. Overpriced and low quality fare here.
